Asymptomatic patient with HbA1c < 7.6%  or close to HbA1c 0.5 to 1.5% above treatment goal

•Lifestyle changes

•Metformin-p starting with 500 mg at bedtime. Then 500 mg with breakfast. Dose increased slowly if needed.
